I see a lot of "I 10x'd my productivity with AI agents on day one" posts. Let me give you the honest version of what your first week actually looks like. Day 1: The Demo High Everything works. You give the agent a simple task — "add a login form" — and it spits out clean code. You feel like a wizard. You text your friends about it. Reality check: The agent is working on a greenfield file with no existing context. This is its best-case scenario. Day 2: The First Real Task You point it at your actual codebase. It generates code that doesn't match your patterns. It imports a library you don't use. It creates a component in the wrong directory.
