Why we're publishing AI search questions and answers on dev.to

Every day, UK businesses ask us the same questions about AI search. How do AI systems decide who to recommend? What makes one company appear in ChatGPT and not another? Can a small business compete? How much does it cost? The answers aren't complicated but they're not widely understood either. Most of what's written about AI search is vague, speculative or trying to sell something. So we're putting the answers here. One question per post. Direct, clear, no jargon. If you build websites, manage digital presence for clients, or run a business that depends on being found online, this series will be useful.
