
When Tech Got Personal
This is a submission for the 2026 WeCoded Challenge : Echoes of Experience For most of my career, technology was strategy. I spent over 20 years working in IT and cybersecurity, designing systems and helping organizations solve complex technical problems. But in 2021, technology became something different for me. It became personal. My family was suddenly thrown into a medical crisis, and I found myself navigating the healthcare system as a caregiver. In those moments, one thing becomes clear very quickly: Information becomes survival. Doctor updates, lab results, medications, insurance questions—everything was scattered across different systems. None of it was organized in a way that helped caregivers think clearly during crisis. As someone who builds systems, I realized something important: Technology isn't just about efficiency.
