When I first started learning programming, I thought the hardest part would be understanding the code. I was wrong. The hardest part was everything around it. The confusion. The frustration. The feeling that everyone else understood things faster than I did. Looking back now, after many years working as a software engineer, there are a few things I wish someone had told me earlier.
