
"The RBT Task List Changed in January. Most Study Materials Haven't."
On January 1, 2026, the BACB switched to the 3rd edition RBT Task List. Exam questions are now based on it. Most of the study material out there is still on the 2nd edition. Quizlet decks, the popular prep books, a lot of the apps. Nobody's updated them yet. This catches people out more than you'd expect. You study for weeks, feel ready, sit the exam, and fail. Then you spend a while trying to figure out what went wrong before realising the material you used was covering different content. Some tasks have been moved, reworded, or restructured between editions. It's not dramatic but it's enough to trip you up on a timed exam when the phrasing doesn't match what you've been drilling. I built a practice question app specifically mapped to the 3rd edition. 100 questions across the updated task list areas, with explanations that reference the current structure.
