Teaching beginners in web development, especially those coming back after years away from education, is something many instructors are getting completely wrong. And no, the problem isn’t the students. It’s the way instructor teach. Most courses are built around one idea: speed. “Finish everything fast.” “Cover the entire stack.” “Make them job-ready in months.” But here’s the truth: > You can’t rush understanding. And when you try, you don’t create developers—you create copy-pasters. Beginners Don’t Need Speed. They Need Space to Understand When someone is starting from zero, or restarting after years, their brain isn’t just learning code. It’s relearning how to learn . Instead of forcing everyone into the same pace, teachers should be asking: What does this student already understand? How fast are they actually grasping concepts? Where exactly are they getting stuck? If you want to run a fast-paced course, fine. But don’t humiliate the ones who are finally starting to understand thing
