
Netherlands — Best Crypto Exchange (2026)
For trading crypto in the Netherlands, your best options are Bitvavo, Coinbase, and Kraken. Binance is no longer an option since it exited the Dutch market in 2023 after failing to secure registration with De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB). The DNB requires all exchanges to register under the Anti-Money Laundering and Anti-Terrorist Financing Act (Wwft), so only use registered platforms. Bitvavo is the dominant local exchange, fully registered with DNB. Its main draw is cost: 0.25% taker and maker fees, dropping to 0.15% for volumes over €10M. For euro deposits via iDEAL, it's free. It’s the go-to for easy euro on-ramps and a wide selection of altcoins. Coinbase is also DNB-registered. Its standard trading fee is higher at 0.60%, but using Coinbase Advanced Trade drops it to a 0.40% maker/0.60% taker structure. You pay for superior security, insurance, and a polished interface.
