My GSoC 2026 Journey: Spectra.jl across the Electromagnetic Spectrum

I'm applying for Google Summer of Code 2026 with JuliaAstro to work on Spectra.jl — a Julia package for loading and manipulating astrophysical spectra across the electromagnetic spectrum. My goal is to migrate the OGIP parser from SpectralFitting.jl into Spectra.jl, implement loaders for optical, infrared, and radio spectral formats, and add common manipulation routines like rebinning and unit conversion. I've been exploring the codebase, reading the OGIP standard documentation, and engaging with the mentors on GitHub issues #41 and #47. Follow my journey here as I document my progress!
