We’re excited to announce the launch of the 2026 WeCoded Challenge ! This year marks our ninth year celebrating the voices of underrepresented and marginalized developers on DEV. Our journey began in 2017 with Nevertheless, She Coded , a movement centered on solidarity and storytelling. Since then, we’ve grown and evolved, transitioning to WeCoded in 2023 to broaden our embrace of the community and launching our first official challenge last year. For 2026, we are continuing this celebration by offering a space for both reflection and creation . While our classic writing prompt returns for those who wish to share their personal journeys and advice, we are also introducing a brand-new way to participate through code and visual expression.
