Ahnii! Minoo is a platform that connects Indigenous communities, Knowledge Keepers, Elders, and volunteers across northern Ontario. This post covers what Minoo is, why it exists, and how you can help shape it before launch. What Minoo Does Minoo is a location-aware community platform. Set your community and it shows you what's nearby: people, events, Teachings, and groups. The name comes from the Anishinaabemowin word for "good." The platform has four main areas: Communities — Browse nearby communities like Sagamok Anishnawbek, Whitefish River, Espanola, and others in the region People — Find Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and language speakers in your area Events — Discover powwows, gatherings, ceremonies, and community programs Teachings — Explore culture, history, and language knowledge passed down through generations The Elder Support Program The Elder Support Program is designed to connect Elders who need help with everyday tasks to volunteers in their community.
