
I Built an AI Agent from Scratch Because Frameworks Are the Vulnerability
OpenClaw imploded. In January 2026, a security audit uncovered 512 vulnerabilities — 8 of them critical. Behind a framework with 220K+ GitHub stars, Cisco researchers demonstrated data exfiltration through the skill system. I wanted to build an autonomous AI agent. But the OpenClaw incident convinced me that "riding on a framework" is itself a risk. More dependencies mean a larger attack surface. Thousands of lines of unvetted code lurk inside someone else's skill system. So I built from scratch, with the absolute minimum. One external dependency: requests . Everything else uses the standard library. Eight security measures baked in from the design phase. 232 tests, 84% coverage. Two days of focused development produced an agent that autonomously posts comments on Moltbook, an AI-agent-oriented social network.
