Here is how the industry actually works — without the hype. The Basic Mechanics Affiliate marketing has three parties: The merchant : A company selling a product or service (e.g., NordVPN, Binance, Kinsta) The affiliate : A person or website that promotes the product and earns a commission The customer : The end user who buys through the affiliate link When a customer clicks an affiliate link, a tracking cookie is placed in their browser.
