“You’ve reached 75% of your usage limit for this week.” The promise vs. the reality, especially when subscriptions starts at $20/month is frustrating, to say the least. Now don’t get me wrong, i still do think that Claude is a great tool, and it helped me a lot with my last project. But the message limits makes me hesitant about renewing my subscription at this point. The “just switch to another model” argument doesn’t hold up. “Hit the limit? No problem — here’s a lighter model to keep you going.” Sure. Except that the lighter model doesn’t have the context of the last 40 messages you just built up ? It doesn’t know you already ruled out Solution B or that you’re on Node 18, not 20. So you either start over, re-paste everything, or accept dramatically degraded output quality. The limit doesn’t hit the casual user who fires off five prompts a week. It hits the person who made AI a core part of their production workflow — the exact user these subscriptions were designed to attract. More
