So last week I stumbled across a Reddit post where someone was genuinely shocked that their open source auth project got written up by a stranger. It hit home because I've spent the last few months evaluating auth providers for two different projects — and honestly, the landscape has shifted a lot. If you're currently on Auth0 or Clerk and wondering whether the grass is greener, or if you're starting fresh and drowning in options, this is the comparison I wish I had six months ago. Why I Started Looking Auth0 has been my default for years. It works.
