AI Integration in Workplaces Causes Burnout: Strategies to Mitigate Overwork and Protect Employee Well-being

Introduction: The AI Paradox Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the workplace is a double-edged sword. On one edge, it slashes through inefficiencies, automating repetitive tasks and accelerating project timelines. Mechanistically, AI-driven automation reduces the time required for task completion by 30-50%, as observed in manufacturing and data processing sectors. This efficiency surge, however, triggers a productivity paradox : management, armed with faster tools, recalibrates expectations upward. The causal chain is clear: AI’s speed → increased output capacity → higher productivity demands. Employees, now capable of completing tasks in half the time, are assigned double the workload. This deformation of workload norms is the first crack in the system, widening the gap between human capacity and organizational demand. The second edge of the sword is subtler but more insidious. AI tools, designed for 24/7 operation, erode the boundaries between work and life. Mechanistically, always-on
