There's a stat circulating that should worry anyone whose traffic strategy depends on Google rankings: AI Overview citations from top-10 organic pages dropped from 76% to 38% (Seer Interactive, analysis of 863K keywords, Feb 2026). That means Google's AI Overviews are now pulling the majority of their cited sources from pages that don't rank in the traditional top 10.
