Accenture Trained 550,000 Employees on AI. Now It's Checking Who Actually Uses It.

Accenture told its senior managers and associate directors this month that regular use of the firm's internal AI tools is now a factor in promotion decisions. Not familiarity. Not completion of a training module. Active, tracked usage — logged through Microsoft Copilot data and internal dashboards. The company trained 550,000 of its 780,000 employees in generative AI over the past year. That's 70% of the workforce. The training is done. The mandate phase has begun. Certain employees in parts of Europe and some US government contract teams are exempt, for regulatory and classification reasons. Everyone else gets measured.
